spring break 2019: wednesday and thursday

We took the faster route (no Highway 1) back from Monterey to LA (but not before hitting Asilomar Beach), had pizza and ice cream at Grand Central Market once we arrived in LA, hiked up to the Hollywood sign (2.5 miles uphill and I almost died), checked into the Georgian Hotel (not as clean as I would’ve liked), and stayed as long as we could at the Santa Monica Pier (it was soooooo cold: windy and rainy). We walked to the pier again yesterday morning for one last bit of beach before heading back to El Paso. …and we’re back.

spring break 2019: monday + tuesday

We flew into LA, rented a challenger, and took Highway 1 to Monterey and Carmel by the Sea (with a lunch stop in Santa Barbara and a stop to check out Elephant Seals in San Simeon). I got to (slowly) run a couple of miles at Pebble Beach this morning, we got to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium, we checked out Cannery Row and ate at the Cannery Row Brewing Company (which had amazing pretzels and grilled cheese with short rib and goat cheese- my favorite meal so far). The boys played football on the beach in Carmel and we followed it up with shopping and then dinner on Fisherman’s Wharf. Tomorrow we’ll head back to LA!

power + electricity

It’s been TWO years since I’ve blogged. …because it’s been two years since I’ve really used my camera. It’s not a New Year’s resolution, but I do plan to spend more time with our family and less time at work this year. Maybe that’ll mean more photos.

Dad and Hannah just left this morning, but last night Dad and I took some night shots (my first real night shots). I have other ideas for both of these subjects so you might see more of them later on…you know, if I don’t let work take over my life again.

We spent about two hours total out there, which goes to show you how much fun I had because I hate (to an unreasonable extent even) the cold.

Happy New Year and Thank you Dad,
